LONDON, Nov 30 (Reuters) – Britain’s media minister will scrutinise the sale of the Daily Telegraph News Today Telegraph newspaper and the Spectator magazine to RedBird IMI, a company backed by the Abu Dhabi ruling family, a government source said on Thursday.
Lucy Frazer said last week she was “minded to” intervene in the planned deal that could see RedBird IMI take control of the Daily Telegraph, saying she had concerns about the newspaper’s independence. (Reporting by Paul Sandle and Alistair Smout Editing by William Schomberg)
